Getting to the retreat in BORACAY
First, A Little Geography!
Boracay is a little island in the middle of the Philippines:
You get to Boracay by flying to Manila first, and then taking a short plane ride to "Caticlan". THERE IS NO AIRPORT ON THE ISLAND OF BORACAY! You have to fly into either Caticlan airport or Kalibo airport. Caticlan is about 20 minutes away from Boracay, Kalibo is about 2 hours away. DON'T FLY TO KALIBO!!!
From the airport at Caticlan, it is a 3 minute shuttle ride, and then a 20 minute boat ride to get to the resort. I know...sounds complicated...but there isn't an easier way to get there. This is one of the reasons why Boracay is such a pristine location!
The resort is located at "Station 1" on Boracay (they have 3 "stations").
Yes! This is going to be an adventure!
Part of this retreat is seeing the geography of the Philippines. It doesn't sound important, but when you understand the geography, you'll understand why you find better employees in different places around the Philippines (...you didn't know you could find better people in certain regions...did you?)Flying From Manila To Boracay
After booking your flight to Manila, you need to book a flight from Manila to Caticlan. Make sure this flight leaves the airport AT LEAST 3 hours after your international flight arrives. There are 3 reasons why:
- Trans-oceanic flights can easily be late (most of the time they're early...but you never know)
- You have to get your bags and go through customs before you can get on this other flight
- The second flight is in a different part of the airport. You take a taxi between the international and domestic "airports", as they call them. The taxi will cost you about $0.45 (yes...45 cents!). You have to get your bags, clear customs, go outside (it's a small place), get a taxi to the "Domestic airport" (remember, everyone speaks english), and then check in again (security is very different outside the US!).
Book Your Flights
To book your flights from Manila to Boracay, you have ONLY 2 options. Below are the ONLY 2 airlines that fly from Manila to Caticlan (the airport right by Boracay).BEWARE of other airlines who fly from Manila to Kalibo!!! You do NOT want to fly to Kalibo (unless you enjoy 2 hour bus rides to get to Caticlan!)
Go to one of these, select "Manila" as the origin, and "Caticlan/Boracay" or "Boracay/Caticlan" as the destination. Again...make sure you book this flight for at least 3 hours after your international flight is scheduled to arrive.
I will email you the exact details of how to get from the Caticlan airport to the resort on Boracay island after you have confirmed your seat at the seminar.
If you have any questions about this, please email me: johnjonas@gmail.com (after you've booked your seats! this isn't an open invitation for personal coaching!)
I look forward to seeing you there! We're going to have a blast!
